Fire Chief David Cunliffe, for the Hamilton Fire Department, Healthy and Safe Communities Department, City of Hamilton - a forward thinking fire service leader who utilizes his diverse knowledge, skills and experience obtained over a 38 year business/fire service career. He began his career in 1982 working for large corporations (Canada Packers, Stanley Tools, Mutual Life/Clarica) where he held senior management positions. In 1983, David began his progressive fire service career as a volunteer firefighter with the Town of Haldimand. In 2000 he became the full time Deputy Chief with the Town of The Blue Mountains Fire Department. David joined the Hamilton Fire Department in 2005 as the Chief Training Officer. In 2007 he was promoted to the position of Deputy Chief where he had responsibility for both the operations and operational support portfolios. David was then promoted to Fire Chief in 2016. He is a member of: the Association of Fire Chiefs, Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs, the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the Metro Chiefs Association.
