Cable 14 is a local specialty channel serving the Hamilton and Haldimand communities for 50 years. Our viewing area includes Hamilton's amalgamated communities of Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Mount Hope, Binbrook and parts of Flamborough (excluding Waterdown), as well as the surrounding communities of Caledonia, Cayuga, Dunnville, Hagersville, and Jarvis. There are approximately 130,000 subscribers in Cable 14's service area.

Cable 14 is a division of TV Hamilton Limited, an independent Community Programming Network as approved and licensed by the CRTC in Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2020-198 expiring August 31, 2025. Cable 14 is owned and operated as a community channel by its shareholders; Cogeco Communications Holdings Inc. and Rogers Communications Canada Inc. 

Cable 14 showcases the Greater Hamilton area as the best place to live, work, play and learn, by promoting innovation, engaging citizens and providing an avenue for diverse voices and alternative choices. It is imperative that Cable 14 continues to provide a vehicle for the people of Hamilton and the surrounding communities to express their views, see others, and be seen as a part of the community.

In the fall of 1970, the entity that we now know as Cable 14 became a reality. It began as Cable 8, with studios located on Hester Street. Cable 8 produced programming on behalf of six cable companies, and was as an integral part of the community then as it is today.

In 1971, Cable 14 received its first license as an independent Community Programming Network, approved and licensed by the CRTC. This was the first and only license of its kind at the time, and today we remain the only operator with this unique license designation.

The switch from black and white to colour was made in November 1975, the same year as Cable 8's 5th anniversary.

Cable 8 changed to Cable 4, relocating both to a new location at 150 Dundurn Street South, and 4 on the channel line-up.

Due to a request from the CRTC, Cable 4 made the transition to its current name, Cable 14. 

 

2013

2013

In October 2013, Cable 14 began transmitting in HD to Cogeco, Rogers, and Source Cable subscribers in the viewing area.

2015

In September 2015, Cable 14 launched a new service that lets subscribers watch live and on-Demand video content, all curated by people who love Hamilton. It combines the passion and expertise of our Staff, Community Producers and Production Volunteers with the latest technology to deliver compelling local programming wherever and whenever our viewers demand it.

Cable 14 celebrates its 50th broadcast season. This programming season was one for the history books, because the COVID-19 global pandemic hit Canada midway through the production season, altering the entire season and 50th celebration plans.
